Al Baruch
Viola: Fantasia's Anniversary (L) Al Baruch was born in Barcelona in 1928 and
currently resides in Tamarac. He received
his B.A. in Art from Pratt Institute and also
attended the School of Visual Arts in NYC.
For fourteen years, Al was director of animation
and cartooning at Hofstra University.
Al has spent much of his life as an animator,
character developer and concept artist, most
notably for Walt Disney Animations studios
in California where he worked on “Peter
Pan”, Captain Hook and the Crocodile, and
“Lady and the Tramp”, Trusty and Jock.
Following his work at Disney, his talents
brought him to CBS Terrytune Studios where
he helped develop “Casper the Ghost” and
“Mighty Mouse”. For many years, Al specialized as a political cartoonist
and is a well-renowned Holocaust artist. He currently teaches
cartooning at N.S.U., the Plantation Community Center and the
David Posnack JCC, including programs for the Special Population.
